Latest Phishing Attacks SPECIAL ALERT MESSAGE FROM www.sans.org A new Phishing attack is targeting people who use PayPal. The user receives an email message telling them that someone has been trying to access their accounts from a foreign country. They are then advised to click on a link that claims to be a PayPal Security Tool. However, it is really a program that modifies the computer settings to direct you to fraudulent sites. These fraudulent sites are where thieves collect personal data by asking you to update your accounts. The data requested includes names, Social Security numbers, bank account numbers and routing numbers. If you have been “Phished…” Immediately contact your financial institution. Also contact the three major credit bureaus and request a fraud alert be placed on your credit report. |
